The Cellardoor Winery is one of Maine’s premier purveyors of grape juice. Obviously, this is not a location for vines and vats but as a tasting room, you’re gonna wanna see this. Visiting here is going to want to make you plan a trip to the winery itself up the coast, but for today’s beercation, relax and have a flight.

Hours: Thu 3:00 – 7:00, Fr-Sat 12:00 – 7:00, Sun 12:00 – 5:00

There are few “anchor” breweries in Maine and one of the original ones is Shipyard Brewing Company. Over the past few years they have become known nationwide for their Pumpkinhead Ale that comes out in the fall but is so popular, it is probably on tap there right now.  This brewery tasting room is historic and evolving at the same time.  This might be a place you want to plunk down some greenies to buy their iconic merchandise that will get your noticed long after your have completed your Old Port beercation.

Hours: Mon-Thu 12:00 – 6:00, Fri&Sat 11:00 – 8:00, Sun 11:00 – 6:00

As the Old Port location for the ever increasing Brickyard Hollow Brewing tasting rooms, here’s an opportunity to stroll by this place while making your way back to your car.  Not really too much to see here as it is more of a convenience than a destination spot.  If you are into fitting in as many places as you can in one day, check them out.  If you are ready to start winding down, you can probably skip it.  There will be a TON of other Brickyard options in other beercations.

Hours: Sun-Th 11:00 – 10:00, Fri-Sat 11:00 – 11:00

Gritty McDuff’s on Fore Street is a place that was one of the original brew pubs in Portland as the Old Port was coming into itself over 30 years ago.  This is your quintessential Old Port watering hole and it never disappoints.  Their menu of beer and pub food is great and you’re right in the heart of the Old Port’s shopping and site seeing.

Hours: Mon-Sun: 11:30 – 01:00

After Gritty’s you should head back to your car and take a short drive over to what is now being called “West Bayside” to visit Batson River Brewing and Distilling. This is not your picnic tables and umbrellas tasting room.  Prepare to be blown away by the visual beauty of this place.  The interior designers have got to be award winners and if not, I want to know why.  This final stop on today’s beercation is a fitting conclusion to a great day touring Maine’s premier tourist destination.  After sampling their beers, spirits, and food, you are going to put this down as the place that defines this area of Portland that is on the rise. Unbelivablely great.

Hours: Tue-Fri 4:00 – 9:00, Sat 12:00 – 9:00, Sun 11:00 – 7:00
